Edward Heath character jug - Price Kensington circa 1975

Edward Heath character jug produced by Price Kensington of Burslem, England, circa 1975. Sir Edward Richard George Heath KG MBE (1916-2005) was a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1970 to 1974 and Leader of the Conservative Party from 1965 to 1975. In 1973 he resigned due to inflated wage controls and a strike in Northern Ireland. Heath also served for 51 years as a Member of Parliament from 1950 to 2001. Outside of politics, Heath was a yachtsman, a musician, and an author. The handle of the character jug is the front of Heath's boat Morning Cloud with which he won England's Admiral's Cup race. This has Gurgling Jug written across the front because of the sound the pitcher makes when liquid is poured out of it. This jug is a pair with a similarly designed Harold Wilson character jug.
