Dan'l Peggoty toby jug - Staffordshire Fine Ceramics circa 1975

Dan'l Peggoty toby jug produced by Staffordshire Fine Ceramics of Tunstall, England, circa 1975. Daniel Peggoty is the generous and virtuous provider in "David Copperfield", a novel by Charles Dickens. He is a fisherman who lives in a house made from an overturned boat on the beach in Yarmouth. Peggoty's household is made up of Mrs. Gummidge, a widow, and children, all of whose providers were lost at sea. He generously cares and provides for them. After Little Emily runs away, Peggoty devotes his life to searching for her. Upon finding her, he emigrates with her to Australia so that she can make a fresh start. This Dan'l Peggoty toby jug was produced from original Burgess & Leigh molds.
