Collier Toby Jug made in Portobello circa 1840. A Collier is a traditional coal miner. The Collier Toby is an Ordinary Toby jug with blackened face and hands which were the result of working in the mines all day. Portobello type jugs were made in the region around Portobello Scotland and often feature a bright maroon enamel color.
