Chinaman teapot trial colorway produced by Minton of Stoke-on-Trent, England, in a 1997 limited edition of 2,500. Chinaman is a term referring to a Chinese man or person, a Mainland Chinese national or, in some cases, a person native to geographical East Asia or of perceived East Asian race. This teapot is based on a Minton original design from around 1870 and modelled as a Chinese actor wearing a turquoise floral robe and holding a Noh mask from which the spout projects. His head is the the lid of the teapot and the handle is formed by his braided hair.
