Cheerful Clown character jug produced by Saint-Clement of Saint-Clement, France, circa 1980. It is a clown's duty to entertain a crowd and put them in a jovial mood. This cheerful clown is quite skilled at putting circus audiences in a good mood prior to the main attraction entering the Big Top. This Cheerful Clown is a re-issue of the Sarreguemine's Cheerful Clown majolica character jug of the early 1900s.
