Carnival Nellie face pot - Kevin Francis 2003

Carnival Nellie face pot produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, in a 2003 limited edition for the Rosemont Team Tour. Nellie the Elephant is among the largest existing land animals. Distinctive features of elephants include a long proboscis called a trunk, tusks, large ear flaps, pillar-like legs, and tough but sensitive skin. The trunk is used for breathing and is prehensile, bringing food and water to the mouth, and grasping objects. Tusks, which are derived from the incisor teeth, serve both as weapons and as tools for moving objects and digging. The large ear flaps assist in maintaining a constant body temperature as well as in communication. Carnival Nellie's face pot quote, "All the fun of the fair!" expresses her sentiment as a principal carnival performer.
