Canadian Mountie character jug extra large size modelled by Billy Grindy and produced by Grimwades of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1940 with is Royal Winton tradename. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), commonly known as the Canadian Mounties, is the federal and national police service of Canada. As police services are the constitutional responsibility of provinces and territories of Canada, the RCMP's primary responsibility is the enforcement of federal criminal law and sworn members of the RCMP have jurisdiction as a peace officer in all provinces and territories of Canada. It also provides police services under contract to eight of Canada's provinces, all three of Canada's territories, more than 150 municipalities, and 600 Indigenous communities. A saddle forms the handle of the jug. The Canadian Mountie jug is known in five sizes with this being the largest. The other sizes stand 5 1/4", 4", 3 1/2" and 2 1/2" tall.
