Bull character jug produced by Rudolstadt Straus of Schwarzburg, Germany, circa 1920. A bull is a large, domesticated, cloven-hooved, male herbivore. They are a prominent modern member of the subfamily Bovinae and the most widespread species of the genus Bos. Cattle are commonly raised as livestock for meat, milk, and for hides, which are used to make leather. The bull's tail curls up to form the handle of the jug.
