Betsy Prigg toby jug produced by Crown Staffordshire of Fenton, England, circa 1930. Betsy Prigg is a midwife who appears in Charles Dickens' novel "Martin Chuzzlewit". She is described as a drunken, slovenly, and unscrupulous woman who is willing to do anything for money. Her character is often compared to that of Sarah Gamp, another nurse character from Dickens' works.
