Bacchus loving cup in Rockingham finish produced in Staffordshire, England, circa 1820. Bacchus is the Roman god of wine and intoxication. Around 200 BCE the Bacchanalia annual festival was held in his honor featuring excessive drinking orgies and criminal behavior. The loving cup is two-sided and has two handles.
