Aston Villa Football Supporter character jug modeled by Stanley J. Taylor and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, between 1992-1999. Members of the Aston Villa Wesleyan church formed Villa in 1874 and the team was one of the twelve founding members of the football league in 1888. It won its first trophy with an FA Cup victory in 1887 and dominated the league, winning the championship five times in its first twelve seasons. Although Aston Villa has spent most of its history in the top division, it had gone more than seventy years without a league championship before it won the Cup competition in 1981. It followed up the next season with a European Cup win. Graham Taylor took Aston Villa close to another title in 1990 and they finished second in 1993's inaugural Premier League, although they have struggled to match that performance since. A team colored scarf forms the handle of the jug.
