Askew Toby jug - Pearlware circa 1795

Askew Toby jug in Pearlware finish circa 1795. The Askew Toby is an Ordinary Toby that has a plainer face with a vacant expression, and he is leaning askew to his right. The Pearlware finish refers to the final clear glazing that contained cobalt and gave a slight blue coloring to glaze that tended to pool between fingers and in the creases in the face.
