Ankhesenamun character jug modeled by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1999 limited edition of 1,500 commissioned by Lawleys By Post. Ankhesenamun (c. 1348 - 1322 BC), a dark and captivating beauty, married the boy-king, Tutankhamen, her brother, at age thirteen. Born probably in the city Akhetaten during the Amarna Period, she was the third daughter of Akhenaten, Egyptian Pharaoh of the eighteenth Dynasty, and Queen Nefertiti. She grew up in the Pharaoh’s court, first married for a short while to Smenkhare. In her second marriage she gave birth to and lost two premature babies, due possibly to the close blood relationship she shared with Tutankhamen. When the boy-king died she married Ay, likely her grandfather, and disappeared shortly thereafter. Her tomb has never been found, nor any evidence of her mummy. A feathered fan and coiled serpent form the handle of the jug. This is a pair with the Tutankhamen character jug.
