Alfred Hitchcock character jug with a pink curtain colorway modeled by David B. Biggs, and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in 1995. Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) was in his time the most widely-known and influential director in world cinema. His significant body of work stretched over fifty years. Born in London, England, Hitchcock's interest in movies began as a teenager when he frequently visited the cinema and read U.S. trade journals. After working as a writer, title-designer and art director for the Gainsborough Pictures Company, he directed "The Pleasure Garden", launching his directorial career. His most acclaimed films include "Strangers on a Train", "Rear Window", "Vertigo", "North by Northwest", "The Birds", and "Psycho", the famous shower scene from which is represented on the handle of this jug. The pink curtain handle was produced for only a short time until it was learned that the curtain in the movie was actually gray.
