Alfred Hitchcock character jug modeled by David B. Biggs and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, between 1995-1997. Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) was in his time the most widely-known and influential director in world cinema. His significant body of work stretched over fifty years. Born in London, England, Hitchcock's interest in movies began as a teenager when he frequently visited the cinema and read U.S. trade journals. After working as a writer, title-designer and art director for the Gainsborough Pictures Company, he directed "The Pleasure Garden", launching his directorial career. His most acclaimed films include "Strangers on a Train", "Rear Window", "Vertigo", "North by Northwest", "The Birds", and "Psycho", the famous shower scene from which is represented on the handle of this jug. A gray shower curtain forms the handle of the jug.
