New Museum hours
In response to increased interest from the community, the American Toby Jug Museum is pleased to announce new gallery hours beginning January 6, 2016.
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday
12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday (first & third)
The museum recently celebrated ten years at its 910 Chicago Avenue, Evanston location. The new hours will make the collection of over 8000 figural jugs more accessible to the public. The collection spans 250 years, from circa 1760 to the present. On behalf of students, collectors, community groups and the public at large, the Museum provides an historical, political, literary and cultural perspective through this unique form of decorative ceramic arts.
During the next several months, the Museum intends to develop special exhibits and educational programs, a video documentary, an interactive Blog, as well as to offer access to its research library and study collection. Given that museums play an important role in supporting classroom outcomes, the American Toby Jug Museum has begun collaborating with area schools and universities in this unique and multi-faceted learning initiative.
"The world includes many fine private collections and archives, but as soon as those are open to the public, the museum becomes an educational institution." George E. Hein, leading authority in museum research and education.Back to News and Events
